Christmas & Christmas Music, More Than Just A Holiday!

Christmas is the ultimate celebration of connection, togetherness and joy. This magical time is when everything feels brighter, food for some reason tastes a little better, and music seems to carry a little more energy!
With laughter echoing through our rooms filled with friends and family and the clinking of the glasses in a cozy living room, Christmas is about coming together to celebrate our lives and to make more memories.
Christmas Music plays a huge part in this scenario. It is our festive, sweet soundtrack to our holiday chaos!
It starts innocent enough with "Jingle Bells" and "Silent Night" but by the time Christmas Eve arrives and "Last Christmas" has played for what seems like the 20th time in a row we have all started to ponder whether Wham actually lived in our living rooms for a good while or possibly moved in??
Maybe you worked in retail and they start their Christmas music before Thanksgiving. Not only is the playlist reciting every Christmas song you've ever heard a thousand times but the clocks on the walls are too. You have to set them apart so as not to play the same tune at the same time, every hour. But yet; it brings back that something and secretly, you love it!
Lets be real, Christmas music holds it's own kind of magic. It turns every grocery store or retail establishment into a scene from a holiday movie and somehow we find ourselves singing along to songs we do not even understand. What is "Figgy Pudding" anyway?
To name a couple songs:
There is "Baby, It's Cold Outside" which isn't just a catchy tune but it's emotionally complicated, historically loaded and wrapped in a jazzy number. Every year it is absolutely impossible to avoid singing along without sounding like you are auditioning for a noir film.
Then there is the oddballs of the Christmas playlist, the ones that show up uninvited in front of your most conservative relatives and somehow fit right in. For example, the universal classic "Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer." Is it a jolly tune about a family tragedy or a hilarious, dark commentary on holiday chaos?? Either way, It'll still pop up in the middle of Christmas dinner like an awkward cousin who drank a little too much of the special, adult eggnog. You'll wince, laugh and then promptly hit repeat!
There is something mystical and special about this time of year that pulls us away from our everyday lives and invites us to just be -- to embrace the ones around us, share stories and just enjoy; us, in that very moment.
In the end, the real magic is found in the laughter, music, shared moments spent together and the spirit of the celebration that wraps us all up in a warmer embrace.
Cheers to Good Times, Great Music, Great Friends and a Great Party spent together! Cheers to the Jingle Bells, the Endless Bells... and to the unspoken pact that we will still love it when it comes back to us next year. Most important, Cheers to our Loved Ones and embracing what could be an Amazing Year to Come!
