The Early Years, the 90's anyway!

Snoop Dogg jumped into the spotlight in the early 1990s. His distinctive style and voice grabbed the attention of the legendary producer Dr. Dre. This included Snoop Dogg, Nate Dogg and Warren G on the groundbreaking album "The Chronic" in 1992. This collaboration played a critical role in Snoop's or Snoop Doggy Dogg (at the times), rise, establishing him on the West Coast rapper scene as the key player.

In 1993, Snoop released his debut album, "Doggystyle." This album soared straight to number one on the Billboard charts; featuring hit singles like "Gin and Juice," not to mention the album epitomized the chill California lifestyle. For instance, "Gin and Juice" became an anthem of being carefree , this showcased Snoop’s ability to lyrically blend his humor and his deep-rooted street credibility. There were over 800,000 copies sold just in the first week alone.

Throughout the 1990s, Snoop faced several legal challenges. His ability to handle the controversies added to his mystique; which in turn, kept him at the forefront of the popular culture of the time.

Transition and Reinvention

As the approaching millennium landed, the rise of new styles and the artists themselves posed significant challenges. In 2000, Snoop released "The Last Meal," which showcased his evolution as a musical artist. He incorporated his new sounds while staying well grounded in his roots.

November 2002 brought the album "Paid Tha Cost To Be Da Bo$$." Snoop Dogg collaborated with major names like Justin Timberlake and Pharrell Williams which broadened his appeal across the genres. The track "Beautiful" featured a mix of pop and hip-hop that topped the charts and grounded Snoop's position in the mainstream culture.

Snoop then ventured into TV and acting. His transition to the entertainment industry showcased his versatility. He had appearances in films "Training Day." which grossed quite a pretty penny at the box office. Snoop has always been able to reinvent himself. He proved to audiences time and time again that he was more than a rapper.

The Unexpected Change in the 2010s

This I love! 2010 brought Snoop Dogg and an awesome but somewhat unexpected turn! In 2012, he fully embraced the Reggae genre by adopting his persona "Snoop Lion." During this change, came the release of Snoop's album "Reincarnated." Inspired by his spiritual journey he had during a trip to Jamaica. "Reincarnated" received mixed reviews, but it highlighted Snoop's willingness to explore new artistic directions. This attracted a different audience demographic.

In 2015, Snoop established his presence in the business world by launching "Leafs By Snoop;" his own, cannabis brand. 2014 brought the Legal cannabis market which was valued at $2.7 billion. Snoop's new venture capitalized on this trend, it showcased his ability to adapt to lucrative opportunities! Through the years Snoop Dogg has had several cannabis-related business ventures. He has had partnerships with Cannabis startups, he has collaborated with other industry leaders and has had many partnerships with different cannabis companies.

Snoop Dogg has continued to rise, He returned to his hip-hop roots with his album of 2019, "I Wanna Thank Me." Not just a celebration of his amazing career but also an introspective journey on his life and the lessons Snoop Dogg learned over the decades.

Snoop is extremely smart, successful and he is connected with the new generation. The fans and the many collaborations with artists like Cardi B and Lil Nas X; his track "Old Town Road, the (Remix)" with Lil Nas X showcased his continuing relevance in today's music.

In 2024 Snoop Dogg took his place on the Voice, Season 26. Throughout the years; starting in 2011, the voice has featured so many coaches and artists. From Coaches Adam Levine from the start until season 16 to Ariana Grande, Christina Aguilera and several others taking their place on the Voice every year.

I have watched every season from the very beginning. I can honestly say that when Blake Shelton left I was a little worried about how the Voice would be without him but I think this season with Snoop Dogg, Michael Buble, Gwen Stefani and Reba McEntire it has been the most fun to watch! They joke with each other like they always did but they dance with each other in between watching the contestants, they laugh continuously, they are genuinely enjoying themselves and we are truly enjoying watching them. I do not think I have ever enjoyed all of the coaches as much as I did the contestants but this year I think they are about even.

Snoop Dogg has shown support for several charities including Habitat For Humanity, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Boys & Girls Clubs of America and 21st Century Leaders to just name a few.

Snoop quite often shares engaging content, personal insights and humorous moments, allowing millions to see his fun-loving side. He always shows such love for those in need, especially children. I believe that all Snoop endured while growing into the amazing artist he is today, he became the most amazing mentor.

Snoop's continuous presence on social media has strengthened his bond with his fans. Snoop has over 60 million followers on Instagram and Snoop's reach has seriously transcended celebrity status. He demonstrates the changing dynamics and that of celebrity culture in this digital age.

Snoop Dogg navigated the all of the complexities the music industry entailed while staying amazingly authentic to himself, this is truly something to be truly proud of!

His ability to embrace change to no end and adapt or reinvent change has kept him relevant in a vastly evolving cultural landscape. Snoop Dogg continues to make music, explore new ventures and inspire future generations. He is building a legacy that will no doubt endure!
